Chapter 01 / The name
Named by
the street.
There's no clever origin story, and we're not going to pretend otherwise. The shop sits on Central Avenue, so it became Central Remedies — "located on Central Ave, therefore created Central Remedies: get your remedy."
That's the founder's whole telling of it, word for word. Fourteen years later the name still does the entire job: it tells you where we are, and what you came for. Straight down the middle — which is more or less how the place is run.

In an industry where shops open and close inside a single lease, fourteen years on one block is the résumé. As we've always put it: "over 10 years in the industry serving the community" — we're well past ten now.

we answer to.
Asked to describe the business in three words, the shop said: friendly, knowledgeable & affordable. Here's what each one costs us to mean.

Nobody's rushed out the door. Ask the dumb question — everyone in here has asked it. First-timers get the same patience as the regular who's been coming since we opened.

Fourteen years behind this counter. Tell the budtender what you're after and how much you want to spend, and you'll get a straight recommendation instead of whatever we're trying to move.

The one thing people know us for: best prices in town. We'd rather you come back on Thursday than spend everything on Monday. The current promotions live on the deal board.

Walk in and it's the first thing by the register: the California Cannabis Retailer License — Adult-Use and Medicinal, framed with the state's own "scan to verify" QR code, next to the tax permits.

Why it matters: a state license means tested, tracked, properly labeled products from licensed brands — and a shop that checks ID every single time. If you ever want to verify us, don't take this page's word for it: look the number up on the state's own site.
Chapter 06 / Who we serve
Recreational
and medical.
Asked to describe the ideal customer, the shop's answer was: "wide variety — anybody and everybody." In practice that's two doors' worth of paperwork, one counter's worth of service.
Recreational
No card, no appointment, no membership. A valid government photo ID showing you're 21 or older, and cash — that's the whole checklist. There's an ATM inside if you come up short.
Walk in any day, 8am–10pm
Medical
Medical patients are served at the same counter, by the same staff, at the same hours. Bring your valid state medical marijuana identification card plus a photo ID that matches it. Patients 18+ with a valid card.

Chapter 07 / The neighborhood
WE'RE NOT A CHAIN. WE'RE ON YOUR BLOCK.
Central Avenue runs the length of South Los Angeles, and the 5700 block is ours — 90011, between the shops and the houses. No second location, no franchise map. When the sign says Central, it means this Central.
Most of our people find us the same two ways they always have: they walked past, or they searched. The nurse coming off a shift at eight in the morning and the guy who walks over at nine-thirty at night get the same counter and the same prices.
Fourteen years of that adds up to something no ad buys: the block knows us. That's the audience we answer to — which is why the three words and the deal board aren't marketing, they're survival.

The shop chose not to run a meet-the-team section, and we think that's the right call — a grid of names and job titles wouldn't tell you anything a two-minute conversation at the counter won't.
What you need to know fits in one line: the phone is answered by somebody standing in front of the shelf, and the person recommending a product is the person who stocked it. Fourteen years of the same counter builds that kind of staff.
